Darrell Lance Abbott aka”Dimebag Darrell” sau simplu “Dime” (20.08. 1966 ‚Äì 8.12. 2004) a fost un mare chitarist american. Dimebag a fost membru fondator a supertrupei rock a anilor ‚Äò90 PANTERA, a trupei Damageplan, dar si membru pentru scurt timp in trupa de muzica country Rebel Meets Rebel.
Dimebag a fost descris de specialistii revistei Allmusic ca “one of the most influential stylists in modern metal“.
Despre performantele sale muzicale voi lasa piesele sa va dezmierde sau sa va imbete cu multitudinea de tonalitati si stiluri abordate de acest mare virtuoz al instrumentului numit chitara …
In data de 8 decembrie 2004, exact acum cinci ani, in Columbus, Ohio in timpul unui concert sustinut de trupa sa Damageplan, DIMEBAG a murit pe scena – la datorie Рintr-un stil extrem de brutal, impuscat de cinci ori, un glont lovind direct in cap.
Idiotul care l-a impuscat pe el si pe mai multi membri ai echipei Damageplan, un fost soldat american, a fost omorat si el, de catre un politist, tot pe scena, la scurt timp dupa inceperea incidentului armat.
Dimebag a fost inmormantat la cimitirul Moore Memorial Gardens din Arlington, Texas, langa sicriul mamei sale. A fost inmormantat intr-un sicriu KISS alaturi de o chitara model Eddie Van Halen Charvel Hybrid.

Its December 8 2004. Former Pantera members Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul are playing a show in Columbus, Ohio with their new band Damageplan. It appears that its going to be a great night. The band takes the stage and begins to play. The crowd goes wild. Soon, things go terribly wrong. It is about to become one of the darkest days in Rock n Roll history.
Little more than a minute into the first song, an tall gunman appears on the stage. He walked over towards Dimebag Darrell and fired off fifteen shots. The gunman is Nathan Gale, an ex-Marine with a serious mental issue. Gale believed that Pantera could read his thoughts and was laughing at him. During the event, he injured several people until he was finally taken out by a police officer armed with a shot gun.
Darrell was hit in the back on the head and died instantly.
